Florida Eels Showcase Ice Cap

Florida Eels Showcase Ice Cap The Eels Elite team working on putting it away as they had an up and down weekend at the Southern Showcase. In each game they played very hard and in 3 of the games clearly outplayed the opposition. In fact even in the game vs. Charlotte the Eels were 50/50 until the last half.
The Eels garnered a tie vs. the Richmond Generals. The game was all Eels but we were unable to clinch it in regulation and near the end of OT 3vs 3 Richmond tipped the clincher. Then the lost to Charlotte 6-2 it being their 2nd game of the day after a long trip.
The guys bounced back on fresh legs the next day to completely dominate the Potomac Patriots 4-1. All cylinders were indeed firing. But today despite dominating the Eagles in the first period, the Eagles snake bit us in the 2nd half 4-1.

GM Scarpaci says this is a very talented group of guys. They are still finding one another and we see enormous potential. We will be making some tweaks over the next several days in planning for our next showcase in Hampton VA next week. Coach Frankie is in no way discouraged. Disappointed yes. Of course. But we see the talent level here and we will turn it around and find our winning formula.

GM Scarpaci was also encouraged by the number of scouts who approached him about our players. These were top-level schools looking at our boys. They look well beyond the win loss column. To them it is all about skill set and compete level. Clearly that was present.

The USP3 started off slow with a loss to East Coast Eagles 3-1. In fact the boys played quite well but came up short in execution and scoring. No doubt the long trip took a little toll on them and it took a little time to adjust. The coaches adjusted the lines and made a few changes and the USP3 team responded with 3 huge wins. First they lade victim on the Jr. Bruins 3-0. Then with a daunting task of two games in one day the responded like warriors. They took down the Richmond Generals 3-1 and in their 2nd game of the day and 4th of the weekend dismantled the Springfield Pics 6-1.

We saw all around balanced scoring with goals and assists form quite a few guys, including: Gavin Medina, Alec Parr, Kellen Crowther, Corey Altieri, Dimitriy Minakov, Stephan Sizov, Caden Tchop, Dylan Robello, Richie Lepardo, Anthony Sozio, Will Carey, and Ethan Gill. Equally strong were outstanding games by Jason Posner and Nick Kotz,

The boys will arrive back Friday night around 9:00 pm and take the weekend off to reenergize and rest. They will be back on the ice Monday for three hard days of training and will be off to Chesapeake/ Hampton VA very late Wednesday evening for the 2nd showcase of the season.

Win or loose the effort was there says Coach Frankie. His guys never quit on either team. It showed us the character of the players. They have the compete level and the will to win. Like every year we make adjustments and rest assure as evidenced by years past, GM Scarpaci is not done building his teams. There are a few ingredients needed here and we will add them to the chemistry.
