The Florida Eels are thrilled to announce the signing of Veteran Defenseman Bryce Freel. Bryce is a 2-year veteran from Chicago and brings so many intangibles and tangibles to the Eels lineup. He has great size at 6’3” 190 pounds. GM Scarpaci and Premier Head Coach Frankie Scarpaci scouted Freel at 4 showcases this Spring and Summer. He also played for the Eels at the Spring USPHL Showcase, the Pro AM NHL Pre Draft in May, and the Sr. Chowder Cup Junior A Division this month in Boston.

There is no doubt this is a high character young man. We love his attitude and the way he presents himself on and off the ice. He does not get rattled when he plays against strong players. He brings 2 years of junior experience. Coming as a seasoned veteran defenseman is phenomenal. Bryce plays a nice hybrid style as he willing to jump in on the offensive play and throttle the attack. He has a very hard and controlled shot form the point. Another arsenal on the Eels power play. His in zone defensive play is smart and steady. He is overpowering in outworking opponents in front of his net and relentless along the wall and keen on his gaps.

Freel is a very determined young man and joins in with the Eels missions and goals. He is focused and hungry. He is a college bound young man and that is why he unwaveringly committed to the Eels program. Welcome Bryce to our program.
