The Florida Eels Elite team has one of its biggest game’s of the year defeating the Tampa Juniors 5-3 at Tampa’s new arena and clinching home ice for the 1st round of the playoffs. The Eels just came off another huge win the previous night as they traveled across Florida to West Palm Beach for their Saturday’s evening game vs. the Palm Beach Hawks. In that game the Eels defeated the Hawks by a margin of 8-2. This meant quite a bit of travel for the home town Fort Myers team. The Eels return to its home rink – the Fort Myers Skatium – Monday for its final game of the season for its final game against the Palm Beach Hawks.

Coach Frankie Scarpaci was extremely pleased with his team’s efforts and performance against the Tampa Juniors. This was an extremely hard fort battle. The game was won in the trenches. The boys did not take this game for granted. They were not just lost in the euphoria of the excitement. They were pumped indeed but put their game plan into operation shift by shift. In fact that is precisely the way they work. Their pattern was consistent as well, with 15 shots in the 1st period, 10 in the 2nd and 12 in the 3rd for 37 in total.

Scoring for the Eels was as follows:
29 Nikita Lopatin (power play) (19 Michael Gennello
13 Mason Ledbetter (even strength) (4 Nathan Nelsen, 22 Chase Jungels)
16 Zac Boyle (power play) (10 Brian Kozek)
29 Nikita Lopatin (power play) (26 Colton Crabtree, 28 Andrii Rusakov)
54 Jordan Court (even strength) (96 Brandon Hotaling)
13 Jean-Simon Robidoux (even strength) (empty net) (9 Clayton Boyd)

In net for the Eels who played another outstanding game was Nolan Greene.
