Kellen Crowther Scores After Getting a Call Up from The Eels Elite Squad

18 Jan 2017 by Frank Scarpaci

Kellen Crowther veteran stalwart for the Eels USP3 team was called up to the Eels Elite team for their game vs. the Palm Beach Hawks on MLK game day. For the USP3 team Crowther has 12 goals and 8 assists. He is assistant captain and in fact the heart and sole of the USP3 team’s offense. Like 7 other players this season the Eels looked down to their USP3 team and brought up players to develop their skills and provide them an opportunity to garner Elite experience and exposure. It is so rewarding to see our players advance like this. This is the hallmark of our program. This is why we have a USP3 squad. It is not about simply having a second team. It is all about player development. Just look at key moves and advancements this year alone: Andrii Rusakov, Richard Allgood, Caden Tchop, Gavin Medina and Nick Kotz. In fact some of our top forwards, Zac Boyle, Clayton Boyd, Jordan Court and defenseman Brandon Hotaling and Brian Kozek and goalie Nolan Greene, on the Elite team all played on played on our USP3 team and all mushroomed into the top players in the league. Kellen did extremely well. He shot 5 times drove to the net with determination and grit and scored a phenomenal goal to notch our 11th in the game. Way to go Kellen. This is an other reason why the college coaches like getting players from the Eels program. They know full well the Eels will take the time to develop their players and give them plenty of ice time to hone in their skills. For many guys that means practicing twice per day meaning 3 hours each say and another 1-½ hours in the gym. That is over 20 hours per week! Now that is a player development echo GM Frank Scarpaci
