This weekend Ice Pregame report Eels vs the Atlanta Knights
The Eels Elite and USP3 team square off against the Atlanta Knights this weekend in Marietta Georgia. Atlanta came to Fort Myers in September for the Eels home games. This the away series for the Eels teams vs. the Atlanta Knights. There is a long-standing rivalry between these two organizations. Both teams were traditionally the top two in the Southern Conference. In fact the founder of the Knights, David Faulkenstein, modeled his program after the Eels. The two are currently again battling for seeding in the South playoffs.

The Eels Elite team is just 1 point behind the Knights who sit in 4th place. Fourth place is key as 1-4 are guaranteed home ice in the first round. The Eels are pushing hard for that home ice playoff seed. The Eels are on fire of late scoring 21 goals in their last 2 games vs. Palm Beach Hawks just before the Thanksgiving break. They scored 25 goals in their last 3 contests. Moreover, the Eels are eying 3rd place that is currently occupied by the Carolina Eagles. The Eagles have 35 points compared to the Eels 27 points for the Eels. That is 8 points, but we know we can over come that goal; but we need to take it one shift, one period, and one game at a time. We can’t look too far down the line. One good thing is we will get to play the Eagles at Germain during the upcoming USPHL Winter Showcase in what will be a key game in the standings. But right now we have to have all eyes on this weekend vs. the Knights. If you cannot join us on the trip then please tune in to Fasthockey/HockeyTV for our games. The USP3 team also travels to Atlanta to take on the Knights’ USP3 team. The Knights USP3 team sit 3 points ahead of the Eels for 6th place where the Eels are in 7th place. This is a very tight division where 4 teams are with 5 points of 4th place. Every game is so critical for the teams in the USP3 division. In fact the Eels like the Palm Beach Hawks, the Daytona Racers, the Tampa Juniors have the toughest schedule in the South if not the entire USP3 division. The Eels can over take 6th place and possibly be tied for 5th place with two wins this weekend. The USP3 team is looking to bounce back after the losses to the Jr. Blades just before the Thanksgiving break and are very hungry to get back on the winning track. The boys have been training an extra 1 each day in the sports court in line rink and have watched over 4 previous Atlanta games to prepare for this weekend’s games. Again please join us on Fasthockey/HockeyTV if you cannot make the games in Atlanta.
