Guess who started for Post University NCAA Division 2 men’s college hockey team last night on defense? Yes our own Johnny Drummond. How proud we all are. Johnny played for the Eels for last 3 seasons. He was assistant captain for the last two seasons. No doubt Johnny was one of our premier academic players. He knew school came first. His mom made enormous sacrifices for him and he accepted his responsibly to excel in school so he could realize and reach his goals.
Johnny was accepted to probably more NCAA schools than any player ever on the Eels. His grades paved the way as did his phenomenal SAT and ACT scores. Indeed, every week we had a new coach calling GM Scarpaci wanting to speak about Johnny. He was a solid Defenseman and that is the most sought after position in college hockey. When you combine his hockey skills and academic achievements it propelled him to the top.
Johnny chose NCAA Division 2 Post University. He had so many choices but Post just felt right. He loved the school, the coach really wanted him and the scholarships achieved and awarded to him were unmatched.
Last night he received such a great honor to be selected as a started in defense and as a rookie no less. His mom Lisa, and all of us here in Florida were so proud of him.
